Welcome to the Real Fantasy Football League
-------------------------------------------------
#1 RULE:
The Commissioner reserves the right to add, adjust, or delete rules if
necessary to preserve the integrity, consistency and fairness of
the league. We will make our best effort to be fair to everyone but
since this is a young league, changes will obviously be necessary
from time to time. Your constructive input is always welcome and
you can e-mail the current commissioner at greeksoccerstars@yahoo.ca
anytime with suggestions or comments.

GENERAL RULES:
-Each franchise team must post their teams roster in the league’s
Team Roster thread. It is the responsibility of each manager to
keep their roster updated & accurate
-Managers must choose an existing NFL team name and
using their name on the proboards is preferable and more fun.
-Being an active owner is required, daily activity is preferred
but every other day is acceptable
-Trades will NOT be reviewed by the League or its Commissioner.
Transaction responsibility falls on that of the trading parties unless collusion
is evident
-The league Salary cap will be 150$
-No team may EVER go over the cap or exceed its roster size

There will be 12 teams in the League. Scoring is Head to Head. There will
be 11 weeks of matchups, starting in week 1 of the NFL and ending in week
11 of the NFL. The top 6 teams will make the playoffs and compete for the
Championship. The top 2 teams will receive a bye into the 2nd round. Each
round will last only one week. The playoffs are week 12, 13, 14.
(it is a bit early for two reasons. 1, I want everyone to play each other only once,
and 2, I believe in week 16 and 17, some teams rest players, etc.)

-There will also be a trade deadline which will Wednesday, October 28, 12PM ET
(Week 8)
-There will be a random draw for waiver priority and teams that pick up a player (according to the waiver rules to follow) will move into last on the list.
-Each franchise team will consist of 40 players. Each
teams players will be divided into 30 players for the NFL
team & 10 players for their "minor affiliate/farm system"
no team is able to have any more active players than this
amount at any given time. The active roster itself will consist of 18
players and 12 bench players (for bye weeks, etc)
The 10 minor league players are not required, while the 30 other players
are. A team must have all 30 players by the deadline (to be announced).
The other 10 are extras, for call ups/downs, save young players, etc, whatever
you want. Their contracts also count against the cap and the years they
are signed for still run down normally.
-To be eligible for "active" roster status, a player must
be called up into a teams NFL roster (30 players). If an
owners NFL roster is full, then BEFORE the team can call
up a player, they will either have to buy-out, trade or
send down a player(s) to their "minors" in a transaction post.
-Any player is eligible to be sent down to the "minors"
-If a player being sent down to the "minors" has played
over 20 regular season games in the NFL, then they must be placed
on a 1 day waiver, prior to being sent down to the teams "minor"
roster. During this period of time, any team can option
to pick up this player at the player’s current salary.
All transactions/movement of players must be posted under the league's
"Transaction" board.
-Any player placed on IR still has their contract count
towards their teams cap
-Each franchise must post their teams roster in the Leagues
Roster board and it is the responsibility of each owner
to keep the roster updated & accurate. If caught cheating,
that owner may lose players, draft picks or be kicked out
of the league without warning.
BIDDING:
-The bidding process begins after the RFA’s have been
declared and signed by the respective parties. (Ignored in the inaugural draft only)
-On the very first day of bidding, teams may open a bid up to
but NEVER exceeding five players (5 "beginning" bids). As the
biding continues a team may "begin" another bid(s) once one or
more of their original bids has either been closed or won
=============================================================
When the bidding is closed on a player that you made
the "beginning bid" for, you then may replace that "beginning bid"
with a different one provided that you DO NOT exceed the established
league limit of five or a biding LOCK-OUT punishment may occur***
=============================================================
-As there is a limit as to how many "beginning bids" a team may
have, there is NO LIMIT to how many players a team may bid on
involving already started bids. As long as the team has the
necessary cap and roster space
-In the league’s "off-season" teams MUST HAVE the roster space
and cap room available BEFORE making the said bid.
-During the Regular Season, a team will be given 48 hours to
bring their team under the salary cap or roster limit, should they
bid on a player that would put them over the cap or the roster limit.
-Teams are given a 72hrs window (24hrs biding + 48hrs contract
length) while biding.
-A team, at ALL TIMES must be able to cover the salaries of
its current signed players, any listed RFA, and any salaries
that the team is currently in the highest bid for, at the time
of your posted bid in the “off-season”. Exceeding the leagues cap
at any time during the off-season bidding process, will result in
the team penalties to be determined by the League Board (such as a
cap hit for the coming season).
-A GM may not make two consecutive bids on a player in an
attempt to run up the price. A team may only bid again after
another teams bid.
-A team itself can NEVER, EVER, retract a bid, once a team places
a bid on a player, it stands until the bid is either won or
no longer the current bid
-To win said player which a team has bid upon, that teams bid
must stay the current bid for a length of time no less than
24 complete hours.
-At the end of each season, players whose contracts have
expired and are not designated RFA’s, will be in the next years
Free Agent Pool.
-Bids may start at any salary level but in numerical amounts
of half(0.5), a whole number(1) or combination of both(1.5) etc.
-When bidding on a Head Coach, do not write the name, just the write
the real NFL team that you want as a coach. Basically the same as when
bidding on defences.
CONTRACTS:
-Every player on a team must have an assigned contract,
whether it is through draft or via the FA bidding process.
-Contracts can only range from 1 to 5 years. A team may
only sign the following sized contracts in the same year
--------------------------------
CONTRACT LENGTH GUIDE:
Five, 5year contracts
Eight, 4year contracts
Ten, 3year contracts
2 & 1 yr contracts are unlimited
--------------------------------
-A team may add contracts throughout the season. The number
of "Length" contracts is specific to each team and does not
change through transactions. (ex: if you have a player with a
3 year contract and you trade it for a player with a 2 year contract,
your team does not get a 3 year contract back and the team receiving
that contract does not use up a 3 year contract)
-These contracts must be kept up to date on each team's
roster page and has to be posted prior to the first game
of the season each year.
-These contracts are a yearly term and are consecutive
so when a player is signed in 2009 season to a 4yr
contract then become signed for 3yrs starting in the
2010 season.
-Contracts may only be "taken back" when a players is
"released" (not Bought out) due to the player retiring or
signing elsewhere then the NFL
RFA:
-A player whose contract is expiring, is subject to
being named a Restricted Free Agent(RFA)
-A team may name or "tag" up to but not exceeding four of
its players with expiring contracts. If not named, an RFA
said player becomes a Free Agent and may be bid upon freely
and would not net the team any compensation.
-To bid on RFA, an owner must start the bid thread at a minus
of 2$ that was the RFA’s salary that year.
*Example, a RFA players salary was 5$ last season, then the
bidding starts at 3$ in that off-season.
-Team may trade RFA rights but only in the off-season during
the RFA naming period.
-A team DOES NOT bid on its own named RFA player after opening
up the starter biding thread.
-Any listed RFA player which does not receive a bid after the
RFA bidding period is completed MUST BE resigned by their team at
the players previous salary minus 2$.
(Also, if your player was making 0.5 last season, he must make 1$ now, not 0.5)
-After a RFA bid is won (24hrs), that players original team
still has the right to match that bid within a 24hr period.
If a team chooses NOT to match that bid, then compensation is
as follows;
-----------------------------
RFA COMPENSATION BRACKETS:
10$ or higher = Two 1st round picks (1 current & 1 future)
9.5$-7$ = 1st and 2nd rounders
6.5$-4.5$ = Two 2nd round picks (1 current & 1 future)
4$-3.5$ = 2nd and 3rd rounders
3$-2.5$ = 2nd round pick
2$ = 3rd rounder
1.5$ or below = no compensation
-----------------------------
-Team MUST HAVE the draft compensation BEFORE placing a bid on a RFA
-Future means the following season
-Lowest(best) picks are taken from the bidding team.
-A team has 4 RFA spots every season
TRADES:
-There will be no limit to the number of trades.
-In the off-season, the rights to RFA’s may be traded before
the RFA biding period begins
-Draft picks (for up to three years in the future) may be traded
between teams
-Listed "future consideration" are allowed but must be a specific,
posted "future" list.
-Money may be part of a larger trade in this league but players
must be involved as such a team may pay a portion of a traded
players salary
-Once the trade deadline passes, all transaction will be frozen
except waivers (no trades, no buyouts, no bids) Waivers will be
open to all teams, playoffs or not.
-Trades WILL NOT be reviewed for fairness. Responsibility for the
acceptance of a trade falls on the trading parties involved. Only,
if at any time the Commish/Deputy feels collusion has taken place
within the transaction should a deal be reviewed and may be vetoed.
If caught cheating through trades more severe punishments can be
taken on the parties involved.
WAIVERS:
-Only players having played over 20 regular season games
in the NFL may be claimed when placed on waivers. Players
who have played less than 21 regular season NFL games are
exempt from waivers until having played 21 reg. season NHL games.
-Any player can be waived but it must be posted in the
"Waiver transaction" thread.
-A player is waived for a 24hr period. If unclaimed, the team
who waived the player needs to either place that player in the
minors or offer the player a "buy-out"
-A team picking up a waived player has to take on the entire
contract and salary of the player.
***A waived players salary continues to be counted
against cap until claimed***
-If a team wants to place a claim on a waived player but it puts
them over the cap or roster limit, they may make a claim on the player.
BUT, should the team win the bid, they will be given 48 hours to put
players on waivers or buy them out. Failure to do so will result in cap
penalties and loss of the player claimed.
-From the end of the season until the beginning of the following
Season (a pre scheduled day), teams may move ANY player from
the main NFL roster to the minors without going through waivers
BUY OUT:
-Owners may have the option to "buy out" a player but first
must place them on 24hr waivers.
-If said player goes through ordered waivers unclaimed then
the team has the option to "buy out long term" or "buyout instant"
"Buyout instant" means you add up the total contracted amount
of said player, then its cut in HALF for a one time cap hit
that season, the contract is COMPLETELY and immediately bought out.
(the player becomes a FA and may be bid upon again, but not by the same team. The team buying out the player cannot bid on the player in the same season he was bought out. He would have to wait until the next season, if the player is still available)
"Buyout long term" is when the team pays each year at half value
over the course of the entire length of contract, extending the
"buy-out" to each individual season.
-A bought out players contract still counts toward the teams
contract guide
-The league always rounds UP. (0.5 can not be divided)
(ex: a buy out of a player making 2.5 is 1.5)
-Savings don’t always occur that season but at minimum, teams
always obtain a roster spot
-If a player is placed on waivers and is picked up off the
waiver wire, the new owner WILL be responsible for said value
of that player AND any contract commitments, where as the former
team will no longer be held responsible. (i.e. player picked up
off waivers)
-Teams will have a Post play-off "Rental" Buyout period, 10
days after the Championship is awarded. These players are
not subjected to waivers and can not be claimed by other teams.
Buyouts following the ten day period would then count from the
next year of the players contract as the league would now officially
be in its off-season.
(ex: if a team has a player for 2 years at 5$ in 2009 and no longer wants that player
in the following season, 2010. They may, in the 10 day buy out period, buy him
out and it will count in the 2009 season. After the 10 day period, all buy outs will
happen in 2010. Once again, the player becomes a FA, and may be bid upon by that team since it is in a different season)
ENTRY DRAFT:
Before each off-seaon may begin (excluding the 1st season), the league will conduct
its own entry draft using players from the same group of
rookies the actual NFL is drafting from that same season.
The draft will be 3 rounds and draft order will be taken from last year’s standings in the form of a percentage (i.e. last place has the best chance, 2nd last place has the 2nd best chance, and so on, to get the 1st pick)
The league will conduct a lottery for the last three place
teams for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd picks over all. The rest of the draft will be decided in reverse order of the final standings.
The draft order WILL NOT snake and follow true NFL format.
===================
Draft method
===================
-When a team is to draft, owners will have 18hrs to select
their player.
-The clock starts from the time the owner before you posts
their selection.
-If a player hasn’t been selected in the time allowed by the
drafting team, then that teams turn will be skipped and the
next owner in line may then draft.
-If your turn has been missed, as soon as you are able,
a team may make their draft selection immediately.
-If at any time, a given owner has missed two consecutive
draft picks without making up the draft selection, then that
owner will have forfeited all of their missed draft selections
and wouldn’t draft again until their final pick.
===================
-Rookies drafted in this manner will be placed in teams
"minor system" as "prospects" but will NOT take up a roster
spot on the team until activated
-Rookie contracts will NOT count against your salary cap
until the player is activated by the team.
-At the 10 games played point (or before), GMs must decide if
the team is to activate said rookie (and his salary) or waive him
without penalty into the FA pool.
(Once the ball is snapped in the player’s 10th game, he is a free agent
and can no longer be signed with the contract terms below)
-A team may release a rookie at any time before activation
without cap penalty
-You may only start your "prospects" after you have signed
them to an entry level contract
-These are the draft picks teams may deal(RFA compensation)
----------------------------------
ROOKIE(4yr term)CONTRACT BRACKETS:
1st rounder; 3/3/3/3
2nd rounder; 2/2/2/2
3rd rounder; 1/1/1/1
----------------------------------
OLD FARTS:
In the event a signed player retires, you may either drop
him anytime BEFORE THE START OF THE SEASON without any salary
cap penalties (get full salary back toward your cap) or
keep him on your roster, AT FULL CONTRACTED SALARY in the event
that he changes his mind.
DETRACTORS:
In the event a contracted NFL player, signs to play elsewhere, you
may either drop him anytime BEFORE THE START OF THE SEASON without
any salary cap penalties (get full salary back toward your cap) or
keep him on your roster, AT FULL CONTRACTED SALARY in the event
that he changes his mind and comes back to the NFL. (this is more for hockey but
you never know)
-Once a player is released due to signing elsewhere, the next
owner to sign him in hopes of the player returning is on hook for
one year before being able to release that player the following off-season.
-Also, a team may never resign the player after they release him. (in the same season that is) If the player retires during the season, you are stuck with him, unless he is bought out.
CONCLUSION
Let’s keep this league fair and fun for everyone. I would ask everyone to please be active. All stuff must be done on proboards before done on ESPN. We are using ESPN because the stats are better there and it looks like more fun then yahoo. Also, ESPN is available right away, so we know the positions of players immediately and don’t need to guess whether they will have that position on them. You will also notice a Personal Messaging system on the proboards site. It is quite useful and will be used a lot. Using messenger systems is also encouraged.
Lastly, any signs of tanking will result in a warning followed by a penalty of some sort.
Any questions, please ask me, or make a post in the Football Talk section.
(some rules are repeated here but it would take too long to edit again)
Good luck,
Commissioner Vassili

up a player, they will either have to buy-out, trade or
send down a player(s) to their "minors" in a transaction post.
=============================================================
When the bidding is closed on a player that you made
the "beginning bid" for, you then may replace that "beginning bid"
with a different one provided that you DO NOT exceed the established
league limit of five or a biding LOCK-OUT punishment may occur***
=============================================================
If a team chooses NOT to match that bid, then compensation is
as follows;
===================
Draft method
===================
===================
